Hi, my name is Mark Wallin. I am a lifelong resident of the Brainerd Lakes Minnesota Area.

My great-grandparents came here in the early 1900’s and settled east of Nisswa, Minnesota, where many of my relatives still live. In addition to farming, my great-grandfather and his children took care of many summer cabins and guided for summer residents and for the many tourists who started coming up to the area’s growing population of resorts.

One thing I wish was that I could have been able to go fishing with my great-grandfather and grandfather and learn from them. With all the technology available to use today, it is a wonder how they caught any fish back then, but there is no substitute for experience on the water.

I grew up on a small lake between Nisswa and Breezy Point that offered me many fishing opportunities. Throughout my childhood, I would fish from a canoe for bass and panfish in the spring and summer, hunt for deer in the fall, and ice fish for sunfish and crappies in the winter. After getting my first boat, my pursuit turned to walleyes and I was hooked on fishing. I would spend upwards of 150 days a year on the water, looking for that next big bite. I have also learned that being out fishing isn’t always necessarily about catching fish, that sometimes catching fish is just a bonus.

For many years I have taken friends and family out fishing and look forward to being able to take my children out fishing and instill in them a passion for fishing and the outdoors. I also want to share with you that enthusiasm for being out on the water and fishing.

As a lifelong resident of the Brainerd Lakes Area, and having a rich family tradition of service to area residents and visitors, I am committed to giving you a fun and educational experience on the water.
