Welcome to the Wednesday Night Bass League

The Wednesday Night Bass League is a fun yet competitve league held on lakes in the Brainerd Lakes area.  It is held on, you guessed it, Wednesday nights from 6-9 (time to be adjusted later in the year)starting the Wednesday after bass opener and running through the begining of August.  Teams of 2 will compete against each other for bragging rights for the year.  Rather than a weigh-in at the end of the night, teams will measure their 8 longest bass 12" and longer during the night, rounded down to the nearest 1/4 inch, and record the lengths on the "weigh-in" sheet.  Each team will be given an official "weigh-in" sheet to record their catch.  Not there there has been a big problem with fish mortatlity, but it will help with that, it will help us add another lake to pick from, and will make end of night weigh-in go much faster. Ten points will be awarded for 1st place, 9 for second, and so forth.  If we do get more than 10 teams, points will be adjusted upward.  We will start fishing at 6 each night, but will start early if all teams are ready to go before then.  All boats must be back to landing by 9.  We will fish rain or shine, but in the case of bad weather, decision on whether we will fish or not will be made by 12 noon.  Artificial lures only, no live bait.

One of the unique aspects of this league is that we won't know what lake we will be fishing until the Friday before.  Below is a list of lakes that we will be picking from and you may fish all the lakes whenever, but once the lake for the week is announced it will be off limits until league starts. Lakes not listed below, but included in the list, are Gull and Crooked.

New for 2011:

We have a new, little wrinkle for 2011, and we will call it the "Angie Rule".  You can include 1 rock bass in your total, if needed, but not to exceed 8 fish total.  If you get 8 bass over 12", you probably won't need it, but say you get 7 bass,  or less, and a whole bunch of rock bass (or even just one), you can include one of those rock bass in your total.  Or if you do get a rock bass longer than one of your bass, you can include the rock bass instead.
